From CO₂-based and microbial fiber technologies to fiber fragmentation research, our work sits at the intersection of lab science and supply chain strategy—bridging research and implementation in collaboration with material innovators, NGOs, and brand teams. We engage across a range of formats, from one-on-one consultations to multi-stakeholder collaborations and collective industry research efforts.

Our AGENCY

Materia is a sustainability agency built to support small and medium enterprises driving change in the textile industry. We act as a bridge between scientific innovation and real-world implementation, helping resource-constrained teams make credible, informed decisions across materials, strategy, and product development.

Through tailored support, we help SMEs navigate complexity, reduce uncertainty, and take practical steps toward regenerative and circular systems. Our work spans early-stage innovation, supply chain design, and implementation strategies across raw material development, chemical management, and traceability.

We also work in close collaboration with mission-aligned NGOs and multistakeholder initiatives to bring credible innovations to life through field pilots and implementation partnerships. From targeted finishing-stage interventions to reduce fibre fragmentation, to specific fiber adoption pilots, we build bridges between research and scalable impact.

Looking to partner with cutting-edge innovators? Our Innovators Pool brings together the technologies shaping the future of sustainable textiles.

Looking to prototype with aligned partners? The Pilot Collective enables small and medium-sized brands to co-develop and test sustainable textile innovations in a collaborative setting. our founder

Carla is a sustainability and circularity expert with over 15 years of hands-on experience in the textile industry. She has led the development of industry-wide guidelines for sustainable and circular man-made cellulosic fiber (MMCF) production, facilitated multi-stakeholder working groups, led stakeholder engagement efforts, and authored key white papers on topics such as air emissions.

Carla initiated and led strategic collaborations with organizations like Canopy and The Microfibre Consortium, working on joint initiatives addressing fiber fragmentation and circularity guidelines. She also brings hands-on experience managing pilots across multiple sectors—from researching alternative fibers for ballistic protection and participating in vest development for the Argentinian Ministry of Defense, to piloting the first chemical guidelines for fiber manufacturing, including Scope 3 emissions testing and reporting across wastewater, air, sludge, and chemical recovery. Carla has also piloted innovative fibers within leading fashion brands such as PVH (Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein), and led brand-focused pilots as an independent consultant, ensuring credible results and cross-functional alignment.

Her mission with Materia is to democratize innovation, making technical knowledge and sustainable practices accessible to small and medium enterprises across the textile value chain. She brings deep technical and pilot management experience into every engagement, helping stakeholders align material innovation with environmental goals through evidence-based, field-tested strategies that reflect operational realities and regulatory demands.
